Ron Kneebone is a Professor of Economics and Scientific Director of Social Policy & Health research in The School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary. His research examines government budgets and their financing but more recently has focused on the economics of poverty reduction and homelessness. Professor Kneebone is co-author of two well-known undergraduate textbooks in economics, a co-winner of the Doug Purvis Memorial Prize for the best published work in Canadian public policy, and a former associate editor of Canadian Public Policy, Canada's foremost journal examining economic and social policy. He has served on a number of panels established to provide advice to governments on their budgeting practices. These include the Alberta Financial Management Commission (2002) and the Yukon Financial Advisory Panel (2017). From 2009-2011 he served as Chair of the University Budget Committee and Vice Chair of the University Planning Committee. From 2016-19 he served on the Board of Directors of the Calgary Homeless Foundation where he was chair of the public policy committee.
